What is revenge-class battleship?

The Revenge-class battleship was a group of five battleships built for the Royal Navy during World War I. They were an improved version of the Queen Elizabeth-class battleships, with thicker armor and additional secondary guns. The Revenge-class battleship was armed with eight 15-inch guns, fourteen 6-inch guns, and four 3-inch anti-aircraft guns.

The five ships of the class were HMS Revenge, Royal Oak, Resolution, Ramillies, and Royal Sovereign. The class was designed to engage the German High Seas Fleet in a decisive naval battle, but the end of World War I prevented them from seeing significant action.

During World War II, HMS Royal Oak was sunk by a German U-boat in 1939, while anchored at Scapa Flow in Scotland. The other four ships served throughout the war, with HMS Resolution seeing action in the Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Indian Ocean.

After World War II, the Revenge-class battleships were gradually retired from service and scrapped. HMS Revenge was the last in service, being decommissioned in 1948. The class remains notable for their impressive firepower and contribution to the naval power of the Royal Navy during the early 20th century.
